Zhongguancun Finance Centre is located at the core region of Zhongguancun, Beijing, north near North Si Huan, west near Suzhou street, east near Baiyi road, and designed by USA KPF architect. It has a total construction area of 83034.5m2, including main tower, auxiliary building and connection corridor. It is the first double ellipse structure building and is the highest building with 150m in the west of Beijing middle line. The unique double ellipse structure turns on strong visual impact, also the external surface is composed of glass blocks and metal blocks, showing the modern sense and attractiveness.
Unitised curtain wall panel structure Adopting a horizontal sliding curtain wall system, incorporating a mid horizontal frame, the system provides good rigidity. The glass plate is fixed in the front of horizontal frame, the external is sealed between the glazing bead and the glass surface and similarly at the two sides of the panel. Three lines of seals installed on the insert and connection material, forms a double cavity system, base on curtain wall rain theory to fully realized the waterproofing and air infiltration properties. The panel is secured in précised position with the horizontal sleeve insert at the gutter between panels. This ensures that the panels are straight and form a smooth plane. The horizontal stack joint forms a continuous drainage gutter and allows whatever water collected to drain out through the gutter. The curtain way system is incorporated with a thermal insulation system to enhance its energy saving efficiency and reduction of heat transmission.
Glass rib structure The highest point of the glass rib is 150m. The glass rib projects 0.45m outwards and is designed to bear large wind load. The glass rib and unitised panel connection and replacement of the glass is the main design focus. How to adjust and control the straight line during installation and to maintain the effect of the design intend? Shenyang Yuanda developed an innovative design to handle this complicated situation: a. Separate installation is adopted between glass rib and unitised panel. The installation is not affected by the untised panels making the replacement a simple process. b. Connected by aluminium material between glass rib and curtain wall with strong anti-load ability and strong mechanical properties. c. Adopting adjustable connection material with hanging hook and slot holes. Warp in the glass rib installation, are corrected by adjusting the connection material to rectify the installation error to ensure a straight line.
